Dragoncharm

Fortune is a normal dragon. A Natural dragon; not an ounce of magic in his blood. He lives a peaceful life with his mother and other Natural dragons, but everything changes on the day he meets a dragon with magic, a Charmed dragon; Cumber.

Charmed dragons and Natural dragons had always been indifferent to each other’s existence- living on the same island, but worlds apart and that was the way they wanted it. Except that nothing lasts forever; the Charmed are dying out but not before a strange new madness is gripping them, making them turn on each other. At the same time a Natural dragon called Shatter is slowly turning the rest of the Naturals against their Charmed cousins.

Now the two unlikely friends must fly south to try and stop what seems inevitable – the death of magic.

I read this book years ago and when I picked it up again I remembered liking it, but I couldn’t remember a single thing that happened in it. Now that I’ve read it again I still have no idea what happened and I can’t remember why I liked it.

It starts off fine at the beginning but the more I went along the harder it got to read. It just felt so long that it was a chore to even pick it up – and that is saying something considering that I’ve read books twice as long (and longer) than this one without any problems. It just seemed to me that the more I read the more convoluted things got. Even the majority of the characters stopped being believable or even likable. By the end things had stopped making sense altogether, or somewhere along the way I stopped caring and stopped paying attention to what I was reading. Either way it took me a hell of a long time to finish it. The author’s tacky and heavy handed style of writing didn’t help things.

I will definitely not being reading the rest of this series.
