As Elizabeth Tudor's England exerts more control and influence on Ireland, one Irish woman - branded a pirate by the English - tries to hold on to a piece of Ireland to pass to her children.
This author has always been pretty hit or miss for me. This book is another miss.
It's not that there's anything really bad about it ,it's just a bland book. The plot never drew me in and I could never really care about any of the characters. There were some parts of the story where I actually disliked Grania and I'm not sure we were supposed to dislike the main character. Her second-in-command was just annoying, with his pining for her. Her lovers were never really fleshed out fully.
