The Prophecy

by Peter Danielson

Reviewed by Coral

Apophis is now king of the Egyptian lands controlled by the Shepherd People. But he is an uneasy king, as prophecy has said that his son will rise to kill him.

As revolts grow against Apophis, Joseph struggles to protect his family from their association with the Shepherd Kings.

The Shepherd Kings now supplement their army with Greek mercenaries, bringing them to victory over the armies of the free Egyptian people in several battles, leading to the final battle between the two sides.

Having read Pauline Gedge’s trilogy on the defeat of the Hyksos, I have to say I liked them better.

I mainly skimmed through this book, without really being interested in what I read.

I’m not really sure why I am continuing to read this series, but I am stubborn so I will probably make it to the end of the series eventually. I was hoping that the new set of characters would be different, with the focus now mainly on Teti, Ketan and Seth as the next generation of the Children of the Lion, but it felt like they were secondary characters to the story.
