Storm of Arrows

After having defeated the Macedonian army sent against them, Kineas and his army now face a choice. With their king dead, the Scythian army is split, with the Lady Srayanka intending to move against Alexander, while Marthax wants the people to return to their fields and stay out of this war.

With the chance of becoming Olbia’s tyrant, Kineas must decide whether or not he can lead his men to battle against Alexander, or whether he can let the woman he loves ride off and risk never seeing her again.

If this story had stayed firmly all about Kineas I would have enjoyed it a lot more than I did. While I sometimes felt that his dreams dragged the story down a little, I did like everything else in his story line.

I really wished that there had been no Macedonian chapters, because they included everything I hated about the characterizations of Hephaestion and Alexander from God of War. I guess it shouldn’t have surprised me, but it did disappoint me.

I won’t be reading the rest of this series but I will be giving the author one more chance as I currently own Killer of Men, the first book in his Long War series. I’m not sure when I will get to it, as I am not really in the mood for more from this author at the moment.
