Stormlord's Exile

by Glenda Larke

Though Taquar has been imprisoned, Jasper still finds himself surrounded by danger on all sides as Laisa, Senya and the waterpriests all conspire to take power from him.

Ravard refuses to give up Davim’s dream of a time of random rain. With war still a threat from the Red Quarter, Jasper loses his allies Kaneth and Ryka who partner with Vara to defeat Ravard once and for all.

Terelle is being pulled back to her homeland by her grandfather’s magic. Forced to leave Jasper’s side, Terelle finds herself in the middle of a religious and political struggle she doesn’t understand..

I’m not sure why I read this book after I’ve found them disappointments from the end of book 1 until now.

I had been interested in the Ravard story line, but it took a backseat the Terelle and Jasper’s stories and I just wasn’t really interested in them anymore. I feel like so much of the problems could have been solved in these books if Kaneth and Ryka had actually done their jobs and protected Jasper. They kept leaving him at the mercy of people they knew didn’t have his best interests at heart.

The story took twists I wasn’t expecting, which I do tend to enjoy. But there just wasn’t enough good in the book to overlook the collective idiocy that are Kaneth and Ryka and everything they do.
