The Sword of Revenge

by Jack Ludlow

The plot of this book is hard to summarize; I am not even sure that there was a cohesive one. The book felt disjointed and scattered as we followed the lives of various characters introduced in the last book. But the characters weren’t working towards a common goal, or against each other in any way, so there was no drive to the events that we were watching unfold.

It was disappointing that the enemy from the last book – Brennos – was more of a footnote than an actual presence in this book, considering the historical events that take place at the place he was fortifying.

All in all, I was mostly bored by this book. It was really hard to stay connected to a story when you don’t really have any idea what the bigger picture is supposed to be or what the main conflict is supposed to be about. I am assuming that Brennos will probably reappear in the third book, but I don’t think I will be reading that one.
