Lord Meren continues his search for Queen Nefertiti’s killer, only to be frustrated at every turn. With someone mounting a campaign of suspicion against him, Meren must catch a killer before he is branded a traitor to the Pharaoh.
If I ignore all of the background inconsistencies of the book (the ones I’ve already mentioned plus new ones, like how can 14 year old Tutankhamun be 6 when Nefertiti died 11 years ago?) then I really enjoyed the book.
I like that we got some chapters set in the past, from Nefertiti’s point of view, although I wished Meren could have been included in those chapters, so we could have gotten the Queen’s impression on him.
I actually thought the frame-up job on Meren was done convincingly enough that I could understand why the Pharaoh believed it.
Meren is a little frustrating. Sometimes I wish he would just trust someone enough to confide in.
I can’t wait for the last book!
